What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of West End Baptist Church.
Grounded in the inspired, infallible Word of God, these foundational truths shape everything we teach, preach, and practice. All of our ministries flow out of these biblical doctrines, and they guide us as we seek to glorify Christ and serve our community with His love.

God

There is one eternally existing God who reveals Himself in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things—both visible and invisible—and is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise. God is perfect in all His attributes: love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Revelation

God has revealed Himself to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God. He has also made Himself known through the Holy Scriptures, His inspired and authoritative Word, and through creation itself, which declares His eternal power and divine nature.

Mankind

God created humanity—both male and female—in His own image and for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and were entrusted as caretakers of the rest of God’s creation.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, they ceased to be what He created them to be and became distorted bearers of His image. Their sin brought separation from God and introduced brokenness, corruption, and suffering into the world. All of creation has been fractured by this fall and continues to bear its effects.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless life and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. God raised Him from the dead, and now, by His grace, offers eternal life as a free gift to all who receive Christ by faith as their Lord and Savior. Because of His finished work, salvation is found in Christ alone.

The Church

The Church is the visible body of Christ, called out and sent into the world to glorify God and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and mission, the Church carries forward Christ’s work in the world.

Ressurection

Jesus Christ will return one day to judge the living and the dead and to bring in the fullness of God’s kingdom on earth. His return will bring justice, restoration, and the fulfillment of all God’s promises.
